1. What this is
Pinned History is a small, independently run website that sells interactive historical chronicles — maps, timelines and write-ups compiled from publicly available sources. By using the site you agree to these terms.
2. What you're paying for
The historical events themselves are public knowledge — you could find them yourself. What you're paying for is the work of compiling, cross-referencing, writing up and presenting them in one place. Some content is free; the rest requires a paid licence:
- Single chronicle (£12) — permanent access to one chronicle.
- Full library (£59/year or £6/month) — access to every chronicle, including new ones added during your subscription.
3. Accounts
You need an account to buy anything. Each licence is personal — please don't share your login or let others access paid content through your account.
4. Payment
Payments are handled by Stripe. Prices are in GBP. Subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel from your Account page beforehand.
5. Refunds
Because digital content is available immediately, you waive the 14-day cooling-off period once access is granted (per the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013). If something is genuinely broken and you can't access what you paid for, get in touch and we'll fix it or refund you.
6. What's ours
The historical facts and dates are nobody's property — they belong to everyone. What we do claim is the original write-ups, the curation and compilation of entries, and the site design. Please don't scrape, bulk-download or republish the paid content. Quoting short excerpts for review or academic purposes is fine.
The maps use OpenStreetMap data, which is © OpenStreetMap contributors under the Open Data Commons Open Database Licence.
7. Don't
- Scrape or systematically extract data from the site.
- Share account credentials.
- Use the site for anything unlawful.
8. Accuracy
We do our best to get things right and cite our sources, but history is contested and we're not infallible. Where scholarship disagrees, we try to say so. Don't treat anything here as a definitive authority — check the cited sources yourself if it matters.
9. Liability
Our liability is limited to what you've paid us in the past 12 months. Nothing here limits liability for fraud or anything that can't lawfully be excluded.
10. Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top will change. If it's a big change, we'll email registered users.
